Robert J. Walker
President

Bob Walker has a twenty-five year record of developing enterprising strategies for political leaders and nonprofit organizations. He has served as a senior advisor to some of the most respected political figures of his time, including former Representative John B. Anderson, who ran for President in 1980 as an independent candidate; the late Morris K. Udall who served with such great distinction as the Chair of the House Interior Committee; and Jim and Sarah Brady, a couple whose courageous fight for common sense gun laws has made them two of the most revered leaders in American public life.

During his years in Washington, he has led the fight, or worked on, some of the most important legislative fights of our time. As the legislative director for Handgun Control, Inc, he directed the lobbying campaigns that led to the successful passage of the Brady bill in 1993 and the federal assault weapon ban in 1994. He has worked on two presidential campaigns and played a critical role in the passage or defeat of several ballot initiatives at the state level.

In addition to his years in government and political life, he has served as a senior executive for some of the nation's most respected nonprofit organizations, including AARP, Handgun Control, Inc., the Center to Prevent Handgun Violence, the Council for Excellence in Government, and Common Cause. With nearly five years of service as a Chief Executive Officer, he has a demonstrated record of success as a nonprofit leader. He has raised millions of dollars from foundations and major donors and knows the importance of sound fiscal management.

He received a B.A. in economics from Rockford College in 1973 and a J.D. from the University of Illinois School of Law in 1976. He also attended the University of Sydney in Australia under a graduate Rotary fellowship in 1977. Walker is the co-author of several law review articles and a book on John Anderson's 1980 presidential campaign. He has also written numerous op-eds and appeared on dozens of major television news programs. He contributes regularly to Diplomat magazine. He is a member of the America Society of Association Executives and has served on the advisory boards of several nonprofit organizations. He currently serves as the President of Get America Working!, a nonprofit organization working to expand America's workforce through innovative changes in tax law and public policy.
